New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 2)
Course Description
The New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 2) graduates will have the language skills and knowledge required to communicate in straightforward and familiar situations with emerging independence and fluency, in order to participate in daily life or in further education.
The course is equivalent to Common European Framework of Reference low B1 to mid B1. Graduates are expected to complete the course with an English level equivalent to IELTS 4.5.
The course is composed of four components: listening, reading, speaking, and writing; totalling to 60 credits.
Course Delivery
The course is delivered over 16 weeks and is scheduled from Monday to Friday, 9:00AM – 2:30PM.
Majority of the lessons are delivered in a classroom and incorporate a wide range of activities such as role plays, educational outings, individual, pair-work and group work, discussion, games, project-based learning, task-based learning, and media-based learning.
Entry Requirements
Applicants may be admitted to this programme:
- Provided that they are 16 years of age or older; and
- Upon completing the English Internal Entry Test, demonstrating suitability for enrolment for the programme (must be at CEFR Level A2 or equivalent); or
- Upon successful completion of the New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 1) programme.
