the New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 1)
Course Description
The New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 1) graduates will have the language skill and knowledge required to communicate in everyday situations of immediate personal relevance, in order to participate in daily life and/or further education. The course is equivalent to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) A2.
The course is composed of four courses: listening, reading, speaking, and writing; totalling to 60 credits.
Entry Requirements
Applicants may be admitted to this programme
- Provided that they are 14 years of age or older; and
- Upon completing the English Internal Entry Test, demonstrating suitability for the programme level; or
- Upon a successful completion of the New Zealand Certificate of English Language (Level 1) (Foundation) programme.
Course Details
- 24 weeks (Monday to Friday, 9:00AM – 2:30PM.)
Majority of the lessons are delivered in a classroom and incorporate a wide range of activities such as role plays, educational outings, individual, pair – work and group work, discussion, games, project-based learning, task-based learning, and media-based learning.
