The Massey Business School has agreed to staircase students who have completed the full- time one-year, 120-credit equivalent, New Zealand Diploma in Business Level 5 with strands in Leadership and Management, and Administration and Technology, from the International College of Auckland (ICA) into the Bachelor of Business (BBus) and the Bachelor of Retail and Business Management (BRBM) based on the policy covered in points 1-5 below.

Students who do not have a university entrance qualification, which includes literacy and numeracy requirements as set out by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), will gain entry to the BBus and BRBM programmes at Massey University on the following bases:

  1. Students who have completed the New Zealand Diploma in Business Level 5 (Leadership and Management, and Administration and Technology) from ICA will gain entry to the BBus and BRBM.

  2. Up to sixty (60) credits for a completed New Zealand Diploma in Business Level 5 (Leadership and Management, and Administration and Technology) will be granted towards the BBus and BRBM as follows:

    BBus - 115.115 Management in Context (15 credits), 45 unspecified credits at the 100-level.

    BRBM 115.115 Management in Context (15 credits) 15 unspecified credits at the 100-level.

    Students applying for credit on the basis of having completed the New Zealand Diploma in Business Level 5 (Leadership and Management, and Administration and Technology) with ICA should supply an ICA transcript for confirmation purposes.

  3. Students who achieve a ‘B’ or better in four or more New Zealand Diploma Level 5 (Leadership and Management, and Administration and Technology) in Business courses will gain entry to Massey Business School degree programmes subject to having achieved an IELTS score of 6 (sub-minima 5.5) or an equivalent score in an NZQA approved English language test. No credit will be provided for an incomplete New Zealand Diploma in Business Level 5 (Leadership and Management, and Administration and Technology).

  4. Credit will not be granted for New Zealand Diploma in Business Level 5 (Leadership and Management, and Administration and Technology) courses passed subsequent to the student enrolling in a Massey University BBus degree programme.

  5. Students must present evidence of having completed the New Zealand Diploma in Business Level 5 (Leadership and Management, and Administration and Technology) with ICA prior to entering Massey University when they apply for credit on entry to a Massey University programme.

This arrangement is based on the New Zealand Diploma in Business Level 5 (Leadership and Management, and Administration and Technology) programme at ICA comprising the courses detailed in Appendix A.

This letter replaces previous Articulation Letters from Massey University to the International College of Auckland reflecting the adoption of the new NZDB framework by NZQA.
